OTTAWA — Expanding a BC LNG terminal, nuclear reactors and money for mines. Those are among the new “nation-building” projects announced Thursday by Prime Minister Mark Carney, the cornerstone of his plan to strengthen Canada’s economy and loosen inter-provincial trade barriers. “Canada’s new government’s core mission, our mandate, is to empower Canadians by building Canada’s economic strength,” Carney said in Edmonton as his caucus holds a pre-Parliament meeting. “That’s how, in uncertain times, we will create greater certainty, greater security and greater prosperity for all Canadians.” His government’s plan, he said, is to turn a crisis into prosperity.
