After opening last month, Chatham-Kent’s 50 transitional cabins for the homeless are now fully occupied, municipal officials say.

“The transition to the cabin program from VPP (Victoria Park Place) I think has been really successful,” Guilmette said. “There’s a couple of minor glitches that we dealt with as we moved through, but essentially the move was as smooth as we possibly could have asked for it to be.

“I can confirm that all the cabins are occupied … (There were) nine individuals from the encampment that have moved from living rough into the cabins.”
