MULTNOMAH FALLS, Ore. (WJW) -- A 49-year-old hiker who became lost on an Oregon mountain trail reportedly called his father for help, but lost connection.

His body was found the next morning, Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the base of a waterfall, according to a news release from the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office.

Dispatchers just after 8:30 a.m. that morning received a call regarding a missing hiker, according to the release. Soon after, another caller reported finding an unresponsive person at the base of Wiesendanger Falls, which is along the Larch Mountain Trail near Multnomah Falls.

The sheriff's wilderness rescue team responded and confirmed the man's death, according to the release. The state medical examiner's office also
