PHOENIX – A suspect was arrested Wednesday in connection with a fatal shooting in south Phoenix last month, authorities said.

Luis Alejandro Mejia Mollinedo, 33, was booked into a Maricopa County jail on suspicion of second-degree murder, dangerous drug possession/use and criminal trespassing. His bond was set at $1 million, according to jail records.

Mejia Mollinedo is accused of killing 41-year-old Gabino Martinez Jr. in the early-morning hours of Aug. 15, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Officers responded to the area of 13th and Southern avenues around 3:45 a.m. and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
