SPRING BAY, Ill. (WMBD) -- A fisherman is honoring the lives lost during the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, by trying to break a Guinness World Record.
From 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, to 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, Jeff "Kolo" Kolodzinksi was at Camp Dallas in Spring Bay for a 24-hour fishing marathon, said Camp Dallas Board Member Cassi Crum.
Kolo is aiming to catch at least 2,977 fish to honor the 9/11 victims. According to a Facebook post by Camp Dallas, as of 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, he has reeled in more than 2,391 fish.
The event also serves as a fundraiser for Camp Dallas. Along with the fishing marathon, there is live music, barbecue from Slow Hand and a first responder parade.
