GALLOWAY TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- A suspect is in custody after a shooting on Thursday afternoon near the campus of Stockton University in Galloway Township.

Investigators say the gunfire may have been the result of road rage.

The shooting happened on W. Jimmie Leeds Road near the area of Redwood Avenue around 12:52 p.m.

The victim was shot in the face and taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Division in an unknown condition.

The suspect was arrested in a nearby housing development. That person's name has not been released.

A shelter-in-place order was in effect for the campus as police spent hours searching the area. It has since been lifted.
