CHICAGO — Several Latino organizations and advocacy groups are expressing concern about a recent uptick in ICE arrests across the Chicago area.
Latino community leaders and supporters say they’re remaining resilient and asking the community to stay strong several days into the Trump administration’s increased immigration arrests.
Despite of this, Mexican Independence Day celebrations are still planned for the upcoming days. This includes the 54th Mexican Independence Day Parade, which will kick off along 26th Street at noon Sunday.
Organizers say they are working with police and private security to keep people safe. Additionally, rapid response teams and attorneys will be there to support families in case immigration enforcement occurs.
