HARTFORD, Conn. — The police department tasked with providing security and protection at the State Capitol will be stepping up resources to "ensure the safety of legislators, staff, and the public," they said Thursday.

The Capitol Police said in a statement:, "Out of an abundance of caution, the Connecticut State Capitol Police are surging resources to ensure the safety of legislators, staff, and the public. Visitors should expect to see an increased police presence at the Capitol as well as at official off-site events."
