COLUMBIA — Community members gathered Thursday morning in downtown Columbia to honor the people who died in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

The Mid-Missouri Patriot Day Ceremony was held at 7:30 a.m. at the Boone County War Memorial Plaza. Now in its ninth year, the annual remembrance and wreath-laying tribute is hosted by the United States Exercise Tiger Foundation with support from the University of Missouri’s Sigma Nu fraternity.

“A universal message for all of those on Patriots Day would be: Please remember.
