GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) - Upstate residents said that they are shocked and heartbroken. Charlie Krik spent years talking about the future of America and now, they said his sudden death has left many fearing for it.

The reaction across the Upstate was immediate.

"It’s kind of like a gut punch,” said Nate Leupp, the President of the 4th District Republicans Club.

"It was absolutely unacceptable,” explained Stacey Mars, the Chair of Greenville County Democratic Party.

"The biggest reaction that we had yesterday from the audience was sadness, anger and outrage," said Afternoon Host of 98.9 WORD, Charlie James. "People were very upset that a conservative voice, like Charlie Kirk, was killed the way he was.”

James told said WORD phone lines lit up with distraught callers Wednesday afternoon
