When Berlin High School football begins its 2025 season on Thursday night, the Redcoats will have a familiar face on the sideline.

John Capodice is back as the program's head coach.

He coached the Redcoats from 2004 to 2014, leading the program to nine playoff appearances and a state championship.

In 2015, he faced recruiting allegations and was dismissed from his role.

Capodice remained a physical education teacher at Berlin High School and coached collegiately as an assistant at Wesleyan University.

He said it wasn't an easy decision to return, but he is excited to get back to where it all started, on the high school sidelines.
