OXFORD, Miss. (WLBT) - An employee at the University of Mississippi has been fired after re-sharing “hurtful, insensitive comments... regarding the tragic murder of Charlie Kirk.”

Kirk, a prominent right-wing influencer, was shot and killed on Wednesday during a public appearance at Utah Valley University.

He was scheduled to appear at Ole Miss next month.

The University of Mississippi announced the employee’s termination in a statement on Thursday.

They did not identify the employee in their statement, but State Auditor Shad White made a post on Facebook seemingly naming the employee as well as revealing the post that was re-shared.

“To Ole Miss, did an Ole Miss employee just repost this insane reaction to Charlie Kirk’s murder? Answer.” White wrote.
