The Municipality of West Grey has deferred a decision that would have kickstarted a process to introduce an interim control bylaw that could temporarily freeze new aggregate extraction applications in the municipality.

At a Sept. 2 meeting, council voted to defer until Nov. 4 a report to issue a request for proposals to retain a consultant to undertake studies related to aggregate policy as it relates to an interim control bylaw. The decision to defer was made to give council time to discuss the matter with the province – including the ministries of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH) and Natural Resources (MNR) — and the County of Grey, whose official plan regulates development in the rural areas of West Grey.
