Jaiseon Barnwell is never satisfied with his quarterback play.

Whether it’s putting in extra time on his passing or footwork, Barnwell is always looking to improve. The Newburgh Free Academy junior has trained with quarterback coach James Brady in Bronxville. He’s worked with Texas commit Dia Bell, who is considered one of the nation’s top Class of 2026 prospects.

“I’m taking steps to better myself,” Barnwell said in the preseason. “Putting in extra time is making the team better. I’m a team-first player. I want the team to do their best. I know if I’m on my ‘A’ game, the team is going to have a much better chance of winning.”

Barnwell’s hard work is paying off. He threw for five touchdowns on 12-of-17 passing and 213 yards in Newburgh’s 53-7 season-opening win over McQuaid last week.
