PAINESVILLE, Ohio (WOIO) - U.S. Marshals arrested a kidnapping and sex crime suspect Thursday who has been on the run since 2002.

Marshals say Juan Carlos Munoz, 52, evaded arrested for 23 years.

But the case isn’t cold anymore.

Marshals say efforts to arrest Munoz picked up steam earlier this year.

Time ran out Thursday when Marshals say they spotted him get into a car.

When the Lake County Sheriff’s Office pulled him over, Marshals say Munoz first lied about his name.

His fingerprints gave him away, according to the Marshals.

Munoz is in the Lake County Jail and will be extradited to Ashtabula.
