Richmond Public Schools’ former chief talent officer is suing Superintendent Jason Kamras and all nine members of the School Board for over $6 million, alleging school officials allowed employees to defame her during a February meeting.
Maggie Clemmons, who was hired in August 2023 to run RPS’ employee acquisition efforts, earlier this year was placed on administrative leave after over a dozen RPS employees accused her of creating a hostile workplace environment .
During the Feb. 4 School Board meeting , multiple employees publicly criticized Clemmons' leadership and called for her removal. One of them said Clemmons had “intentionally worked at breaking the team down,” while another said she had “mocked my accent.”
