FRUITVALE, Texas — Fruitvale ISD will not complete the remainder of this football season due to low participation and injuries.
Superintendent Rebecca Bain said in a letter the school does not have enough players to complete the season.
"We started the season with low numbers and then sustained injuries, and some chose not to stay with football. We just don't have enough participants to continue," she said.
She explained that Fruitvale ISD is a 2A district, but it changes between 1A and 2A frequently during alignment changes because of UIL numbers. That change makes it go from 6-man to 11-man football for the district.
