For the second time in as many weeks, Jackson State defensive end Quincy Ivory has notched a weekly award from the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
Ivory, a transfer senior from the University of Florida, was once again named SWAC Newcomer of the Week after recording 10 tackles, 1.5 for loss, and a sack in the Tigers’ week-two loss to Southern Miss. He was named Defensive Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week after the team’s week-one win over Hampton.
Interestingly enough, Ivory – now standing at 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds – formerly played quarterback at Mississippi Valley State (2021) and East Los Angeles Community College (2022) before transitioning to the defensive side of the ball while on the JUCO level. At Florida in 2023 and 2024, he played in 18 games and made one tackle.
