SAULT STE. MARIE- The Lake Superior State University hockey team has locked down their head man through 2032. The University announced today that head coach Damon Whitten has signed an extension that will see him continue his stretch as the longest-tenured coach in program history.

Whitten will begin his 12th season behind the bench this October and is seeking to replicate his 2021 success when he took the Lakers to just their 11th all-time NCAA tournament appearance.

The hockey team will begin the season at Stonehill College before returning for their home opener against Lindenwood on October 9th and 10th.
