PROVIDENCE – The Rhode Island State Police closed off the street surrounding Senate President Valarie Lawson 's East Providence home for about a half hour on Sept. 11 in response to " bomb threats " targeting the homes of top Senate Democrats.

In a statement to the media, Lt. Col. Robert Creamer wrote, “We are aware of several hoax e-mails that contained bomb threats directed at local officials."
