The Department of Justice (DOJ) has brought a federal criminal charge against a repeat violent offender accused of murdering a woman on a public transit system. The action, which was a topic of discussion on the LEO Round Table , directly challenges what Attorney General Pam Bondi called “failed soft-on-crime policies.”
The case involves Decarlos Brown Jr., who is accused of the unprovoked stabbing death of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska on a light rail train in Charlotte, North Carolina.
According to reports and an FBI affidavit, Brown attacked Zarutska from behind with a knife just minutes after she boarded the train.
