On Thursday, Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott highlighted Baltimore City’s declining crime numbers, new partnerships with state law enforcement and expanded opioid prevention efforts.
Speaking with WBAL NewsRadio’s morning show hosts C4 and Bryan Nehman, Scott said the city is “at our safest point in more than 50 years,” while pointing to recent declines in homicides, nonfatal shootings, carjackings and robberies.
Baltimore has recorded 95 homicides so far this year, compared with 130 at the same time in 2024.
Expanding on the decline, Scott credited residents’ cooperation as essential to the city’s Comprehensive Violence Prevention Plan.
“Everybody plays a deep part in the partnership,” he said, citing police officers, prosecutors, violence interrupters and community groups.
