NEW ORLEANS — For years, Medical Watch has covered adults and children with brain injuries, coming to New Orleans from around the world, for a treatment considered controversial.

Now, there is another little boy with one of the most remarkable recoveries, and a father who says he had to fight the health system to get his son into the treatment.

In 2018, Will Boytim got a call that every parent fears: his youngest, Robert, at three years old, drowned in a pond at a picnic. He had no heartbeat or oxygen for nearly an hour. Family and first responders resuscitated him and got him to a hospital near his home in Houston.
