PROVIDENCE – The Rhode Island State Police closed off the street surrounding Senate President Valarie Lawson 's East Providence home for about a half hour on Sept. 11 in response to " bomb threats " targeting the homes of top Senate Democrats.
In a statement to the media, Lt. Col. Robert Creamer wrote, “We are aware of several hoax e-mails that contained bomb threats directed at local officials."
“We take all threats seriously and these incidents are under investigation," he wrote.
State Police: Threats made against other New England officials
The Rhode Island State police are aware of other officials throughout New England receiving similar threats, Creamer said. They are continuing to investigate, but at this time have found none of the threats to be credible.
