OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — The people killed in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks are not forgotten by those in East Tennessee.
Twenty-four years ago, four hijacked planes crashed into both World Trade Center towers in New York City, the Pentagon in D.C. and a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
Since 2003, Oak Ridge High School has hosted a 9/11 memorial event, inviting first responders to its memorial and honoring the lives lost in the attacks.
There's not a student at the school who was alive in 2001, but that doesn't matter for the people who attended today's event.
