ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Albany Department of Recreation's Garden Club for kids is set to kick off this fall. The program will offer children ages eight to 14 the chance to unplug and enjoy hands-on activities after school while learning about plant cultivation.

The Garden Club will teach kids about seed sowing, harvesting, and composting using problem solving skills throughout engaging lessons in a relaxed, team-oriented environment. The program is scheduled to run from September 16 through October 30.

The club will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Swinburne Park, located at 810 Clinton Avenue in Albany. Parents can register their kids for the program for free through the Department of Recreation's (DOR) website. Anyone with questions can contact DOR
