NEW YORK (PIX11) -- With under a month to go before Sean "Diddy" Combs is expected to be sentenced after a jury found him guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, his legal team filed motions for an acquittal or a new trial.
Judge Arun Subramanian, who presided over Combs' trial, scheduled a hearing to listen to oral arguments for an acquittal or a new trial on the prostitution charges.
The signed order has the hearing scheduled for Sept. 25, exactly one week before the sentencing date.
The maximum sentence Combs faces for violating the Mann Act — which is what he was found guilty of — is significantly less harsh than some of the top charges he was acquitted of. His conviction carries a sentence of up to 10 years in prison for each count.
