Billings Administrator Chris Kukulski is now anxiously awaiting news in western Michigan. He spent the week in Ottawa County where he was among five finalists vying to serve as administrator.

After going through an extensive public vetting process , Kukulski is eager to find out if he’ll return to Billings with his ticket out of town.

His relationship with the city council has become increasingly tense since the last election.

Earlier this year, the council narrowly approved a 3% annual raise for Kukulski. The 6-to-5 vote bumped his salary to $219,007 starting July 1.

But some members complained about his $500 a month car allowance and other employment benefits. They’ve also been more critical of his performance and decisions lately.
