UPDATE: The City of Chattanooga has settled a wrongful death lawsuit with the family of a man shot by officers at a Speedway gas station in August 2023.

The city agreed to pay $180,000 to the five children of the victim, Roger Heard, Jr., according to Tuesday's city council meeting.

In August 2023, Roger Heard, Jr. was shot 14 times by Chattanooga officers at the Speedway gas station on East 3rd Street as those officers were trying to serve an arrest warrant on him.
