GLADEWATER, Texas — The Gladewater Police Department is asking the community to stay vigilant following a string of vehicle thefts and break-ins targeting Kia vehicles.

The department said on Facebook that this week it has responded to three separate incidents involving theft or burglary. All of those incidents involved a Kia.

Law enforcement is recommending Kia owners take the following safety measures:

Always lock your vehicle, even if you are only leaving it for a moment.

Remove all valuables from your car, or at least keep them out of plain sight.

Utilize a steering wheel lock or other anti-theft device.

Park in well-lit areas whenever possible.

If you have a garage, please use it.

The police department is encouraging anyone who sees any suspicious activity to call 911.
