S&P and Moody’s assigned Lucas County credit ratings consistent with those of previous debt issuances, which is evidence of a “solid financial position and sound fiscal management,” the county said in a news release.
S&P gave the county’s general obligation, long-term debt an AA rating that “reflects our view of a broad and diverse economy anchored by Toledo, healthy reserves, and a robust financial management framework.” The AA rating is the second-highest issued by S&P.
It also issued an SP-1+ rating for the county’s $37.5 million short-term bond anticipation note, which is associated with downtown Toledo’s Hilton hotel, as well as $18.2 million in general obligation bond anticipation notes for various water and sewer projects.
