Former Democratic legislator Todd Achilles made an appearance at Nampa’s Lakeview Park on Monday, part of a cross-state tour to promote his U.S. Senate candidacy and draw in Idahoans who feel similarly disillusioned with the state of the country’s two-party system.

Achilles’ bid for the Senate comes after he was originally appointed to fill a District 16 position by Gov. Brad Little and went on to win the seat in the Idaho House of Representatives as a Democrat in the November 2024 election. The seat was once again made vacant after his announcement in June that he would be stepping down from his representative position to run as an independent against longtime Idaho U.S. Sen.
