High school students in Alexandria, Virginia, might be taking public transit buses to class instead of school buses in the future.

"In Alexandria we have a free DASH bus system that’s reliable, that is great, and why don’t we take advantage of it?” Alexandria City Councilman Abdel Elnoubi told News4.

Elnoubi, along with the vice mayor of Alexandria, have directed city staff to study the idea of switching more than a dozen high school bus routes with the DASH bus system. DASH buses are free to ride.

City leaders say a lot of the DASH buses run the same routes as the high school buses. If kids use DASH buses, it would eliminate those double loops.
