CROWLEY, La. (KPLC) - The founder of KAJN 102.9 Radio, Barry Thompson Sr., died at the age of 87 Tuesday, according to family and friends.

Thompson launched the radio station in 1977 when it was owned and operated by Agape Broadcasters Inc., according to KAJN’s website. The station broadcasted Christian music and programming to people in the Lake Charles, Alexandria, Lafayette and Baton Rouge areas.

According to his obituary, Thompson was not only known to share his faith through radio and television, but also as a Sunday school teacher and long-time member of Northside Assembly of God in Crowley.

Thompson leaves behind three children and nine grandchildren and is preceded in death by his wife Annette Thompson.

The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. and
