MOOSIC, Pa. — As the nation looks back on the September 11 attacks 24 years later, communities and first responders are taking part in events to honor the thousands who lost their lives.

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders hosted a Remembrance Stair Climb Thursday at PNC Field in Moosic.

About half a dozen people were invited to climb the stadium steps in memory of the first responders who climbed 110 floors of the Twin Towers that tragic day.

“I’ve been a fireman for a very long time now, and I knew a couple of the guys who were killed on 911 at the World Trade Center, and I just want to continue the awareness of what happened," said Lt. Jim McHale, Carbondale Firefighter.

The stair climb was one of several held throughout northeastern Pennsylvania to honor those lost in the attacks.
