Rockford area residents, officials and first responders and gathered across the city Sept. 11 to honor the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on America.

Dozens attended programs at the Winnebago County 9/11 Emergency Responders Memorial, located on the corner of West State Street and Chestnut Street, and Midway Village Museum to mark the anniversary of the tragedy, the deadliest attack on U.S. soil, killing nearly 3,000.
