ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A worker was recovered after falling into a trench Thursday afternoon in south St. Louis County.

Investigators tell FOX 2 that the worker fell into a 30-foot trench near Meramec Bottom Road and Lemay Ferry roads.

The worker suffered an apparent head injury and was rushed to a hospital in critical condition.

Fire crews with the Mehlville Fire Department recovered the worker from the trench within 15 minutes of arrival.

The injured worker was one of six on site. It's unclear what led up to the fall at this time.
