KNOXVILLE, Tenn — Thirty-one-year-old Conservative activist Charlie Kirk was shot and killed at a speaking event on a Utah College Campus on Wednesday afternoon.
He founded Turning Point USA, a group aimed at promoting conservative politics to high school and college campuses. Through that, he gained followers from across the country.
One here in East Tennessee is Tyra Eastridge. She and her father attended Kirk's event on the University of Tennessee's campus back in March.
"He started throwing the hats out, and I actually jumped up and caught one. That was probably the most exciting thing that happened to me that day, but it was just really cool to be able to go and see and hear what he had to say," she said.
