BOSTON (WWLP) - A former pediatric cardiac anesthesiology fellow at Boston Children's Hospital pleaded guilty Thursday to child exploitation and pornography offenses, federal prosecutors said.

According to the U.S. District Attorney's Office, 37-year-old Christopher Sheerer, of Boston, admitted to one count each of distribution of child pornography, possession of child pornography, and sexual exploitation of children.

U.S. District Court Chief Judge Denise J. Casper scheduled sentencing for Dec. 18. Sheerer has been held in federal custody since his arrest in July 2024.

Sheerer previously held a fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore before joining Boston Children’s Hospital.
