CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - This week, the country has seen a number of tragic and violent attacks on social media, from the stabbing of a Ukrainian refugee to the shooting of Republican activist Charlie Kirk.

The images and videos are everywhere online.

Psychologists at the Cleveland Clinic say being exposed to such harmful content can have a great impact on mental health, especially for children.

“Depending on your experiences with trauma, it can make you more anxious or fearful, but for some people it might even make them numb,” says Kia-Rai Prewitt, director of psychology outpatient at the Cleveland Clinic.

Within minutes of the shooting of Kirk, the video of his murder was posted across all platforms.

Before he was even pronounced dead, the video had millions of views.
