A nationwide grant is helping one local garden grow produce and in size.
The Bethlehem Center Farm was recently selected for the FruitGuys Grant. They were selected out of 207 applicants across the country.
The Center's Farm is located in an area known as a food desert and has been helping out the community for over 100 years.
A food desert is an area that does not have access to good, quality foods such as fresh produce. However, the Farm at The Bethlehem Center is changing that.
“We’re trying to do as much as we can with a little. With this we were able to grow about 4,000 pounds of food last year. Which is really exciting. That all went to our clients like the food pantry and just our walk ups. You know people will come by and say hey I need some hot peppers or an onion or whatever
