ROCHESTER, Minn.-A dedication ceremony is being held at a new memorial at Soldiers Field Memorial Park at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11 to celebrate a 4 year project almost reaching completion.

Olmsted County Sheriff Kevin Torgerson, says the Southeast Minnesota Peace Officer Memorial has been under construction since 2021.

The Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation of Southeast Minnesota has raised around $650,000 to build it and are still raising $30,000 to $40,000 more to finish the garden and build a maintenance fund.

The final piece after the dedication will be the capstone and a series of memorial benches he expects to arrive by this November.
