More than 1,300 North Texans gathered at Globe Life Field on Thursday to do a good deed, hoping to transform the anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy into an annual day of service.
Volunteers aimed to pack more than 380,000 meals for the North Texas Food Bank as part of the North Texas Meal Pack for 9/11 Day.
“Once I heard about it, I felt it was just a great opportunity for us to be able to give back,” said John Noble, who volunteered at the event with his coworkers from National Fire and Safety. “On such an important day in our history on what had happened, I thought it was just a great opportunity for us to be able to go do that.”
It was RJ Poddar’s second year attending the event.
“No one looks at what color you are or what religion you are, we’re all here for a cause,” he said.
