It doesn’t have to be this way. We don’t have to accept this as normal and move on to the next tragedy in a few days. In fact, we cannot and must not.
But the truth is that most of us have accepted a new reality where those at the extremes of our political spectrum spew hatred at others. At those who have different religious beliefs, who vote differently, or who we simply disagree with. Most of us feel like there’s nothing that we can do because we’ve been paralyzed by fear and ambivalence.
