GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — On 14 acres of land in Blendon Township, Key Capture Energy plans to build a battery energy storage system, or BESS.
"It's a 100 megawatt facility, and battery energy storage, these facilities can store energy during periods of low demand and then put the energy back on the grid," said Chris Linsmayer, senior manager of public affairs for Key Capture Energy. "When, you know, folks come home in the evening, they turn their appliances on."
According to Chris Linsmayer, while the system would be in Blendon Township, the power collected could be used anywhere it's needed.
