Cross-state rivals Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants will start a 7-game head-to-head stretch over the next two weeks, beginning on Sept. 12.

The Dodgers are at the top of the National League West Division as of Sept. 9 with 80 wins and 64 losses, according to MLB's official website . The Giants trail behind the Padres in third, at 73 wins and 71 losses. The Giants are fighting for the final wild-card playoff spot with the New York Mets and Cincinnati Reds .

The Dodgers and Giants rivalry dates back to 1883, before they made their way to the West Coast in 1958, according to Local News Matters.
