(NEXSTAR) -- The United States Naval Academy, located in Annapolis, Maryland, is on lockdown Thursday evening, as officials respond to reports of threats made toward the federal service school.
Thursday evening, Naval Support Activity Annapolis, the academy's security organization, posted that the lockdown was out of an abundance of caution.
The report comes after an afternoon of threats against schools across the country, including against several historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) earlier in the day. Some schools locked down campus activities going into the weekend out of caution.
