MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) – Art and nature are two things that define Grand Junction as a city. Now, artists have a chance to combine the two on a traffic signal box along Monument Road.
"We're looking for the theme to kind of complement the natural desert landscape of the area," said Grand Junction's Arts and Culture Coordinator Haley Van Camp. "So whether that's the wildlife that we love seeing here in the desert or just the beautiful geology of the monument, that's kind of the theme we're looking for."
Van Camp said that the box itself is an oddity to see painted, but she just wants to see a little more joy along the monument trail.
"It's not always something that you think would be great for artwork," Van Camp said. "But it can definitely help enhance the area, and it can just be so
