A driver was killed Tuesday in Elizabeth after suffering a medical episode and crashing outside a church, authorities said.

The driver struck two parked cars before hitting the entry gate of the Glorious Hope Missionary Baptist Church on First Street at about 4:35 p.m., a city spokeswoman said.

The man was brought to Trinitas Regional Medical Center, where he died.

There were no passengers in his vehicle, and the church building was not damaged.

Authorities did not immediately identify the man as of Thursday morning.
