BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- 24 years after the Sept. 11 Attacks, Kern County is taking a solemn moment to remember the heroes who have given their all -- for both our community, and our nation.
As hundreds of observers stood in attendance, the American flag dropped to half-mast to honor the nearly 3,000 Americans killed on Sept. 11, 2001.
Fire Captain Jason Johnson says remembering the attacks of Sept. 11 is especially poignant in Bakersfield, with its very own piece of the original World Trade Center.
"It means a lot to the community in Kern County, especially when we have an actual piece of the World Trade Center from North Tower One, brought here from New York into Bakersfield. It's a day of remembrance, and this ceremony ensures were never forget what happened that day," Johnson s
